7% of Starbucks Shareholders
Back Food Labeling:
|
| An As You Sow-sponsored shareholder resolution asking
Starbucks to label genetically engineered (GE) food products was supported
by 7% of shares voted (15.8 million shares) at the company's annual meting
February 26, 2002. Numerous public opinion polls, and legislative efforts
both here and abroad support the labeling of GE foods. The company does
not sell GE coffee or tea products because no market currently exists
but has not pledged not to sell such products if they are eventually developed.
